MEX Centre for X-ray Imaging
The DMEX Centre for X-ray Imaging hosts three X-ray tomographs, enabling to cover a large panel of spatial resolutions (0.3–150µm) and sample sizes. While samples can be tested under ambient conditions, the centre has built up a unique competence in conducting in situ / in operando testing.
Examples are the assessment of the impact of cyclic loading on the microstructure of battery electrodes, or the study of biofilm growth in reservoir rocks under representative pressure and temperature conditions. Besides the state-of-the-art X-ray tomographs, the facility provides the tools to cover optimally all steps, from sample preparation, up to data analysis and interpretation. Together, these instruments provide all necessities for 3D non-destructive morphological analysis at the micron-scale. DMEX also offers hands-on training courses on X-ray tomography. The training covers all aspects enabling to perform high-quality experiments safely and autonomously on the X-ray tomographs of the facility.
